Schroeder calls terror acts "war declaration against civilized
world"
Berlin, September 11, IRNA -- German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder
called Tuesday the latest terrorist attacks in the US "a war
declaration against civilized world".
"Whoever supports this terror violates the laws of the civilized
world," a somber looking Schroeder said during a news conference
broadcast live on German television.
The chancellor furthermore expressed his country's "shock" over
the latest wave of US terrorist attacks and offered his condolences
to the victims.
The German government declared number one security alert, the
highest of its kind, after an emergency session of the country's
Federal Security Council.
Both German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Foreign Minister
Joschka Fischer set up a crisis task force in response to the latest
terrorist assaults.
The German parliament Bundestag cancelled its 2002 budget
hearings after the news of the attacks.
