Making the human body a command center

Groking and Human-Information Interaction (HII)

To Grok is to actively/intentionally seek to comprehend something at its most experientially knowable level of reality. The purpose of this website is to re-conceptualize the dynamics in which humans purposefully interact with information. We provide the thinking for how to exploit the human body's ability to perceive, process, render to consciousness, cognize, make decisions about, and then issue commands about specific and critical information.
This is a loop beginning with input to the user and then output to those who will be implementing the commands given by the "groker."

Multi-sensory input and output is an essential principle of this thinking. Using the visual, auditory, and tactile sensory modes of the body, information can be rendered and then acted upon in a much richer and efficient manner than in the past. The idea of perceptualization of information is another principle of our ideas. To perceptualize is simply to take some data and make it perceivable to some sensory system of the body. However, our use of this term also carries a connotation of optimization. Each of the body's sensory modalities has physiologically specific methods for perceiving and processing information. Based on neuroscientific priniciples of sensory physiology, we endeavor to match different kinds of data sets to the sensory systems most suited to the perception and processing of that kind of data. In other words, the human visual system is better at percieving some forms of data than others, whereas the auditory system has its own methods which work better with other kinds of data. Given these physiological "feature extraction" properties of the nervous system what can be done to optimize a user's interaction with information? How might we think about preparing raw data so as to get the fullest benefit of the nervous system in perceving and processing that data rapidly and powerfully?

Grok-It science thinks from a systems-wide perspective about the various aspects of information-decision imperatives. As of late, we have been focusing our conceptual efforts on the problems faced by those emergency and support personnel responding to human disaster relief. In a situation where large groups of people are disaster victims, of either war/terrorism or natural catastrophe, sensory and communications systems must be available which can rapidly be "on the ground" and giving support to emergency medical and supply workers. Everything from heart monitors to counting of victims to additional impending threats to water and medicine supplies, to name a very few, must be tracked and made available as refined information which the user can then act decisively on. The various projects you will find on this website aim at just this solution.

Grok-It science gives us a conceptual framework for assembling the many technologies and event related variables necessary for powerful and damage-minimizing/life enhancing communications response in human disaster situations. We present our work to you the end-user that you would know what and how to think possibilities as you seek to meet the particular decision-support needs of those depending on you. Below is a brief description for each of the areas represeted in the site:
